I am liking the textures in this and the weed just brings a bit of a contrast to the picture. Remember, your views are valued and I will think about it next time i'm out taking photos. You make me a better photographer.... really!

I think it's fine to have the stump slightly to the side, centred stuff gets boring eventually 
myself I probably would have taken the pic from a lower angle to get more contrast between the stump and the sky, rather than have it kinda merge into those trees in the background (maybe have the horizon about 4/10 of the way down so that it lines up with that little bit coming out of the wood, or is slightly below it... meh). I find it difficult to work backgrounds around a subject most of the time 
would be easier if I could just re-arrange everything but that's not usually very possible
